The coexistence of residential and productive settlements, the particular social composition, and the urban configuration characterised by high building density and the absence of public spaces, have all contributed to making the development of integration processes particularly complex and have made an action of urban and social regeneration of the area necessary.

The absence of squares and public spaces dedicated to meeting — extremely necessary for the development of civil coexistence and the creation of social networks — has led some associations to plan and carry out a series of interventions.

With the conclusion of the "PIU Prato" project and the creation of the Playground, covered market, zone 30 and Prisma LAB, a new phase opens for the life and social functions of this area.
